The United States is under attack from within. Every federal department, from nuclear monitoring to food safety, is being systematically corrupted, dismantled, or disabled. This isn’t just bureaucratic decay—it’s a coordinated assault on the very functions that protect citizens and sustain the nation.
Reports trickle out about specific incidents, but the full picture reveals an administration actively sabotaging the federal government. The global economy, international alliances, and the environment are being trashed, with consequences that will ripple for decades, even centuries, especially on climate.
Critical services are being undermined. Nuclear stockpile monitoring, cybersecurity, and counter-terrorism efforts are understaffed or trashed. Public health, vaccination programs, clean air and water, social services, civil rights, and the rule of law—all are under relentless attack.
Meanwhile, the federal government that serves the Trump agenda and the oligarchy is feasting on taxpayer money. The Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. military are warped into Pete Hegseth’s vision of a ruthless mercenary force. Hegseth has reportedly blocked promotions for over a dozen Black and female officers.
Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, destroyed USAID last year, leading to tens of thousands of deaths from starvation and preventable disease. The Iran war has sparked a fertilizer crisis in Europe, Africa, and Asia, threatening widespread famine.
Former Homeland Security head Kristi Noem spent more than $200 million on a self-starring ad campaign before being fired. The Iran war burns billions daily, even as environmental protection, national parks, and the Forest Service face brutal cuts.
Public lands are being handed to fossil fuel companies and mining interests. The Forest Service headquarters relocation will likely trigger mass resignations, mirroring the Bureau of Land Management move in Trump’s first term. Over 50 Forest Service research stations are being cut, erasing irreplaceable data and staff.
Trump’s recent speech laid it bare: “We can’t take care of daycare. We’re a big country … We’re fighting wars … It’s not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things.” Offshore windfarm builders were bribed nearly a billion dollars to stop, driven by a personal vendetta against clean energy.
The U.S. once led in scientific and medical research, but those programs have been slashed to the bone. This isn’t neglect—it’s murder. The nation’s stability masks the coming impact, like an aircraft carrier slowly turning toward disaster.
Trump started a war for no reason, using the word “fun,” further undermining a global economy already damaged by erratic tariffs. Enterprises can’t plan with tariffs that triple and vanish like his moods. Threats, reversed court actions, and incoherent policies create political whiplash.
Mainstream media often tries to frame Trump’s actions as competent leadership, but if there’s a coherent agenda, it’s destructive and malevolent. The slogan “the purpose of a system is what it does” applies: this system weakens, damages, corrupts, and harms.
Vladimir Putin benefits from most of Trump’s actions, but Trump’s motives include revenge on a country that rejected him in 2020. He’s failing politically, cognitively, and physically, and wants to take everything down with him, like ancient rulers buried with their servants.
As mortality looms, Trump seeks immortality by sticking his name on buildings, park passes, and currency. But motives are secondary—consequences are what matter. We don’t need to understand these criminals to contain and remove them.
They won’t last forever. The U.S. faces a reconstruction not seen since the Civil War, to return a ravaged country to functionality. But we can’t go back to the old ways. Antidemocratic weaknesses—the electoral college, voter suppression, gerrymandering, a corrupted Supreme Court, and ultra-wealthy influence—created the vulnerabilities that allowed this.
We must imagine a more democratic, egalitarian, and generous country, where wealth serves all, nature, and future generations, not the moral poverty of billionaires.
